The sunset on the Long Island sound. This time of year, the colors are so pure. I can't stop thinking about it. 

Talisman Collection

Dina Varano will unveil her latest “Talisman” collection of necklaces on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. The second in a series that was first introduced in June 2014 to rave reception. These thoughtful compositions are renderings of traditional Talismans meant to evoke inspiration and protection for the wearer through the use of symbolic sterling silver and gold charms and significant gemstones, crystals, beach and river stones.

Now we dip. Dye, wash, dry to oxidize. The cool thing is the bath is purple, your piece comes out green and then it turns that amazing blue color as it hits the oxygen in the air.

The next stage is designing, wrapping, tying, folding, twisting, bundling and experimenting! I love this stage because you can plan it all out carefully, or just randomly do something, and never know if it's going to work out or not and which one will come out the most beautiful. Here are some shots of this process.

I love taking classes and learning a new craft or technique. I've always been fascinated by indigo. The history and tradition of the craft and the outrageously beautiful color!

The theme to our Chester's May Daze opening is Flowers. All through town you'll see flowers in bloom. I am working on my Fleur series. Production style.  Design, create, make. Repeat. In Jewelry: Saw, file, solder, clean, hammer, finish, repeat! I love the Process!

Travel inspiration

Took a great trip to Santa Fe! I've always wanted to go and explore out there. The landscape really spoke to me. The colors, the red earth, the expansive sky, art everywhere... Traveling is definitely one of my favorite things to do. Show up somewhere totally new and dive in! Love it.
